E-Discovery Lawyers

Larry Johnson, Principal Attorney, has been a member of the Washington State Bar since 1974. He began his career as a King County Prosecuting Attorney, then went on in the 1980s and 1990s to become senior partner in two law firms with primary emphases in commercial and mass tort litigation, representing insurers and Fortune 500 companies.

Finding successful ways to use computers in his law practice, Larry founded Lawyers Computer Consultants, Inc. in 1985 to assist law firms in automating the way they practiced law. In 1998 he switched to a career in the new field of electronic discovery, first working at Computer Forensics Inc., in Seattle, then, in 2000, moving on to Director of Electronic Discovery Services for Fios, Inc., in Portland, Oregon. In 2002, he and Tom Howe founded Legal Technology Group, Inc., an e-discovery consulting firm.

In 2006, Larry founded e-DataEvidence (www.e-dataevidence.com), a company providing full-service e-discovery consulting and file processing of computer-generated data for law firms and corporate counsel, with particular emphasis on emails, using best-practices protocols and analytics for arriving at relevant digital evidence for use in litigation.

He is co-author with Tom Howe of Electronic Discovery Technologies, Practical Tips and Tools for Electronically Stored Information, a comprehensive book, to be published Q4 in 2007, that will be the first of its kind to help lawyers understand how various software applications and utilities can empower attorneys and their support staff to preview computer-generated evidence and even perform in-house a number of e-discovery tasks rather than outsource them to vendors.

Larry is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (B.A. summa cum laude; J.D. cum laude) and Harvard (M.A.)

An article published at law.com in June of 2006 refers specifically to Larry Johnson and Tom Howe as among an elite "number of capable e-discovery attorneys," which it estimated to be "around 200 wordlwide."
